MAKE-UP POLICY
Fall and Spring Semester Lessons
Student Absences:
The Fall and Spring Semester each contain sixteen weeks of lessons and one scheduled make-up week at the end of the fall semester and two make-up weeks at the end of the spring semester. Students may make-up two missed lessons in the fall semester and two missed lessons in the spring semester. If a make-up lesson is missed, the lesson will not be made-up or refunded. Missed lessons beyond those allocated for semester will not be made-up. Additionally, students may switch lesson times with another student. It is the responsibility of the parents/students to make these arrangements and notify the teacher of these changes. Regular attendance is essential for success. Students who can not commit to regular lessons should seek lessons elsewhere.
Teacher Absence
In case of teacher absence, the teacher will make every effort to reschedule during the same week. If this is not possible, any unused make-up week(s) at the end of the semester will be used to make-up lessons missed due to teacher absence. In the event that these weeks are already needed to make-up lessons that were missed by the student, the teacher will issue a credit for next semester. If the student decided to discontinue lessons at the end of the semester in which the lesson was missed by the instructor, no credit will be given or refunded.
Summer Semester Lessons
The summer session is a la carte. The teacher will publish a list of available weeks for lessons, and the students will let the teacher know which weeks they will be taking lessons. Missed summer lessons will not be made-up or refunded, however students are welcome to switch lesson times or inquire if there are open lesson time slots available for a make-up.
Inclement Weather
The Elizabeth A. George Violin Studio does not follow the Prince William County Schools closing and delay/dismissal schedule. Decisions regarding lessons will be made on a case by case basis. IF Elizabeth decides to close in person lessons due to weather, virtual lessons will be held instead. If the studio is open for in person lessons, but you do not feel comfortable attending in person, notify Miss Elizabeth prior to the lesson, and we will have a virtual lesson instead. In the case of missed lessons for inclement weather where power has been lost and virtual lessons are not possible, the make-up policy will be the same as the case of missed lessons due to teacher absence.
